Academic Misconduct  Panel

Why do I need to attend a panel?

You have had an academic integrity interview already so should be aware of what the issue is.

If you have missed your interview, your case will have been referred straight to panel. Please check back through your University emails to find out when this took place.

There is evidence that you have brought unauthorised materials or devices into an exam.

What do I need to do first?

You can prepare in a very similar way to the interview - begin by reading the regulations if you have not already.

These can be found on the web-site of the Office of Student Complaints, Appeals and Regulations (OSCAR) - https://www.surrey.ac.uk/currentstudents/study/complaints_appeals/

Remember that you have to be honest with the University.

If you had 'Special Circumstances' at the time of submission, you will need to gather your evidence. 'Special Circumstances' and the evidence you will need are defined in the regulations.

Read through your Turnitin report and try to think where the problem might be.

At the meeting you will be asked to explain how you produced your work so look back at sources you used and gather any notes or draft versions you have for the piece of work to be discussed.

Look at the SPLASH webpage to help you understand what the problem might be - https://www.surrey.ac.uk/student-personal-learning-study-hub-splash

What next?

If you did not have time before, now is a great time to start seeking help from SPLASH and your tutors, especially if you have other deadlines coming up.
