  • Nightline Project Coordinator

      Full Time
      The Students' Union has just launched its new Nightline service providing a confidential listening service for students.  The service is run by trained student volunteers.  Nightline services are open during the night when other specialist university welfare services are closed.  We are looking for a new coordinator, with experience in coordinating a Nightline or other listening service, to ensure the smooth running and growth of the new service.  This role will be available on a temporary contract for up to 6 months.
      We are looking for a candidate who can:
      • Take responsibility for the day to day running of the service and volunteers
      • Act as a first point of contact for enquiries from current and potential volunteers and the University
      • Compile a comprehensive training programme, arrange and deliver training for new and existing volunteers
      • Monitor and evaluate the success of the service including reporting on number and frequency of calls, call trends and volunteer satisfaction
      • Establish a well trained student committee

      Skills/experience required:

      • Experience of volunteering/coordinating for Nightline or other listening service
      • Reliable and good timekeeping skills
      • Ability to act sympathetically, empathetically and discreetly with students and staff
      • Excellent cultural awareness and sensitivity and commitment to equality
      • Able to deal appropriately with people at all levels
      • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and the drive to make things happen
      • Professional integrity
      • Good IT skills
      • Excellent organisational skills
      • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
      • Motivated and proactive
      • Open minded and flexible
