As well as representing students and ensuring that their voice is heard, the Zone works on a number of projects throughout the year:
The Voice Zone leads on promoting Course Rep elections in May and October each year. Once Reps are elected, the Zone provides their training and works throughout the year to support Reps, whether that's through our monthly drop-ins, mentoring, offering advice to make the most of their role, and coordinating Student Voice Forum. We also run our Course Rep Awards at the end of each year.
Big or small, Change One Thing is your opportunity to let the Union know what ideas you have, what you want to see done, and to vote on all the ideas we've had so far!
All of the ideas we receive will be discussed amongst the Zone and we work with the University throughout the year to make change happen.
Surrey Decides is our Union elections, where students at Surrey elect the new full-time and part-time officers who will be leading the Union the following year. All students are eligible to stand as a candidate and voting is open to all.
|||This year, the Zone introduced Voice It, a week when we invited students to have their say on key issues like accessibility/flexibility and diversity to help us shape the student experience at Surrey. As part of Voice It, the Zone is also working with a group of societies to support their own campaigns improving the student experience here at Surrey.|
Last year, the Union released its housing manifesto, Living at the Limit, where we called for a range of improvements to the local housing market. Students highlighted a range of key issues which the Voice Zone is working to take forward working with officers from across the Union.
